"Connections" by Alba Muñoz

Dear Victor, I write this letter to you because since you turned off your phone there's no way to contact you. I have something really exciting to tell you. Last week, I talked to Susana López, our classmate from preschool.  In one of my attempts of improving my english, I made a question on a english learning blog and a girl called "Susana López" answered it. Her answer attracted my attention because of the length and clarity. I checked her personal profile in order to see her contributions, qualifications and so on but when I saw her profile pic, I was shocked. Undobutful: She was her. I also checked her born date and her place, and it was Valencia: where she moved years ago. I didn't lose a minute and wrote a message to her, also including an old picture that I had on my computer. While doing it, I was just thinking on calling you up.  She answered my message and wrote in her phone number. When I read it, I picked up my phone and called her. Something strange...

"Dream Jobs" by Alba Muñoz

Undobutful, the worst job I can imagine is being a slaughterer and work in a slaugtherhouse. I love animals, so killing them with economic purposes would be crazy to me and really really inmoral. It is not necessary that I describe the job, but to summarize it, this job is one of the worst things that the human race actually does. Appart of being inmoral and harmful to me, it is nauseating and disgusting. I wouldn't like to be forced to work in such thing, and of course, this is a job that I would never choose or do. The picture is the best one I have found about it, so imagine the rest... About the job conditions 45 years ago, I have found no pros on them. They didn't have the social security, no control of the hours they were supposed to work between the ones they used to work (even if it was already stablished the 8 hours workday. According to my grandfather, really important new laws were becoming to be apply, around his thirties, but as they were new there were still loa...

"If I were you..." by Noelia Osete

TEXT 1 1- What do you have to do? The first stage of improving your time management is to list absolutely everything that you have   to do. This may sound obvious, but speaking from experience, most students tend to leave important tasks until the last minute, which can impact on the quality of their work and their overall grade. Include any university deadlines as well as any shifts you work on the list, and make a note of how much time each priority will take out of your schedule. 2- Create a life schedule Whether it’s a pin-up planner, a timetable or a calendar on your phone, find an organizing tool that works well for you and add your list of priorities to it. There are many time management apps   that can help with this. Also, think about when you are most alert, so that you can plan your study periods around these times. Find time for socializing, but also make sure that you get enough sleep. Most people need between 7 to 8 hours sleep every night to...

"If I were you...", by Ana Mª Mondéjar

TEXT 1 Keep an open mind There are lots of good graduate level opportunities out there in organisations of all sizes. More than  99% of businesses  in the UK are small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs), employing between 25 and 250 employees, and many graduates will find themselves working for one. Part of the challenge in your search is to ensure that you are not blinded to these opportunities by the larger organisations. Think about the company, its culture and who you would be most comfortable working for. Also consider location – certain sectors are sometimes clustered in regions, so open your mind to the potential of moving for the job. Experience counts Remember that you are not looking for a job for life, but to build your experience. If you have a particular company in mind but are struggling to find the right opportunity, then getting experience in a different organisation or in a different role to the one you had imagined could give you an edge when t...

Top financial tips Update your course and university details with Student Finance as soon as possible after securing a place through clearing, and send through any supporting evidence. Don’t assume your finance is sorted. If you haven’t received a letter from the loans company saying it is, check . If you’ve applied for finance online, quickly send back the signed declaration, which agrees to the terms and conditions of applying for student finance, to avoid delays. Remember , you won’t receive any finance until you register – and physically attend – university. Decide what your costs and income are likely to be and draw up a budget. Bear in mind that paying your rent is more of a priority than the student union’s tequila night. In fact, it’s more of a priority than anything else. But don’t forget Christmas, or the TV licence, or contents insurance, or the cost of your housemates’ birthdays. Work out early in the term whether you’re going to need a part-time job and ...

"In the public eye" by Noelia Osete

If I had to be in the public eye, I think that I wouldn't like it. This is because many reasons. I like doing what I want and probably, being famous I had to walk carefully. First of all, a famous person is always in the mind of other people and is being judged every day by whatever he does. In addition you always have to give a good impression because the majority of people who follow you, copy what you do and they take examples from you. This is a huge responsability to do correct things. Also, this is a loss of privacy. An example of this is the blogger, Eugenia Cooney. She does videos of makeup, fashion and videogames. She is 22 and she is being criticized because she only weighs 27 kilos. Recently, a campaign was opened to close her youtube channel because she encourages anorexia and bulimia among young girls. She says that she is good and she has no problem, but people thinks so.  I like to be anonymous because I think that everything you do, you enjoy ...

As a young adult, I wouldn't like to be in the public eye because of a high number of reasons. First of all, being famous deprives you to do whatever you want whenever you want without being judged, that means you will have a great number of people following you. Besides, famous people have a huge responsability, as influencers they have to show the best of themselves and also, give a good image to don't be looked down upon socially. As an anonymous girl, I'm free of doing what I feel in every moment and nobody is going to follow me. Apart from this, I can do it without giving explanations. Life is subjected to changes, but one of this type is too hard to face it successfully and people aren't usually prepared to do it.  According to this, it comes to mind that some months ago, Dulceida, one of the most famous influencers of Spain triggered controversy due to an interview in which she said she wasn't interested in polictics and neither she had stud...

"In the public eye" by Alba Muñoz

I'm sure I would regret being in the public eye because it's a way of losing many things. As a non-famous person I can do what I feel like doing, and I can take the decisions I want to. Althoug it is true that I'm surrounded by people, the only ones who I have to give them explanations are my parents, and they never ask for them so I can say that I'm free to do or choice whatever I want. Being a public image would break this freedom but also will create some responsability on me, because with loads of people pendient on me, I would have to choose really carefully the things I use, share or show.  This one is a hard but very representative example of what I mean. In 2013, the popular singer Justin Bieber was seen in a picture smoking weed. His fans become crazy trying to make him stop smoking. It was crazy because they cut themselves, in a sign of protest or something like this. I'm sure he was feeling so guilty and perhaps he is still smoking but he has to hide it...

DEFINITION OF FRIENDSHIP This is a picture of my friend Nerea and me. I met her some years ago, I remember we were so young. This is a special friendship because she is not from Murcia, she lives in Barcelona. The story is so curious. I met her because we had the same musical idols and after some years, we finally met face to face, in Albacete. The second time I saw her was this summer, but this time in Madrid. We went on holidays together!! Isn't it fantastic? I like the way she is. She is a very calm person and always has a solution for any problem. I think the fact that she's studying psichology helps to face problems in a different way. I am very lucky to have met her because she has helped me and also, Nerea is the kind of people you can trust in. INDIA  I have always wanted to visit India due to several reasons. On the one hand, it seems to me so curious because of the huge differences between the culture here in Occident and its oriental culture; that...

My friends  These are my friends from the university and these are pictures of our first night going out together.  They are Ana, Blanca, Maleles, María y Noelia. They have a lot of qualities for the ones they diserve me to describe them. To begin with, Ana is my soulmate. After a year, all that I can say about her is that she is a person that really complements me. When I'm with her, I think that we met each other before. About Blanca, she was the first person that I talked to in the degree. She is so kind and she is always smiling, so that you  won't ever see her angry or upset. She has a personality to be pursued. Following the line, the next we find is Maleles. She is a very funny girl with the one you can have loads of fun and create funny stories, as she is a unique person. The next one is María, who is really attentive and active. What I more appreciate about her is her vivid life, in which she never stops and complains and she just live being herself. Th...
